Let in the Light
Let in the Light is a name very close to my heart. For a long time I have tried to be a source of light for the people around me. Whether it is a smile to a stranger, supporting someone through a tough time or celebrating an accomplishment, I have made it my personal goal to bring more joy, love and light into this world. It makes me feel happy and fulfilled to see the light shine in others.
Let in the Light also is symbolic to the fact that when we go through tough times in life it can often feel dark. Maybe you have even referred to a difficult time as a dark time in your life. As a therapist I want to help people find the light in their lives. I want to help clients move on from the dark times they may be experiencing.
A reminder to us all to Let in the Light
A Bit About Me
Hello my name is Sarah Harrison, I am a registered professional counselling therapist. I was drawn to the counselling profession as I have always felt my purpose in life was to support those in need of help. I found myself being the go to person that friends and family would turn to when they needed someone to listen and take the time to understand what they were going through. I wanted to be able to help people on a deeper level, and this led me to sign up for professional training through Stenberg College where I received my Counselling Therapist Diploma. Mental health has always been an interest of mine and I found my studies fascinating. I now have the education and tools to be able to help others on a wider scale. Previous to my studies I worked as community support worker in mental health, supporting individuals with developmental disabilities.
A little about me personally; I am born and raised on Vancouver Island. I have worn many hats and have lived in northern BC as well as Alberta, but the island called me back. I love being in nature and fully appreciate the lush rain forest of the west coast along with the beautiful beaches, rivers and lakes that this island has to offer. I am an animal lover and spend as much time as I can with my dog.
My own life experiences have added a depth of understanding when it comes to certain topics. Addiction is a topic that I have been observing and learning about my entire life. As a daughter, sister, friend and partner of individuals who have struggled with addiction I have witnessed first hand the chaos it can bring. I have immense empathy for those who struggle with addiction as well as anyone who has love for someone with this struggle. I have experienced the darkness that can ensue entire families when addiction is present and it is my mission to support those who are effected by it in various different ways. It can be a lonely place and I want you to know you are not alone.
Often times when we grow up in households where addiction is present it can harm our beliefs around ourselves. Living in these situations can lead to having to deal with overwhelming emotions. I understand what it is like to feel like these emotions have taken over, when constant dysregulation of the nervous system can lead to avoidance and struggle when trying to conduct everyday life situations. I am motivated to empower others to rediscover their strengths and to be able to thrive in a life that they feel proud of, as I know myself what it is like to forget how beautiful life can be when we take back control.

Healing is a continuous journey with many ups and downs along the way.
